artist statement
Sara's fauvist paintings are inspired by nature. Her contemporary twist of non-local colors encourages the viewer to appreciate the beauty of the structures and forms within nature. She uses vivid color combinations to reflect her vision of the woodlands of the Midwest.
The medium of acrylic paint is its own component in her work, as is the essential layering process. Building layers of pure color establishes a vibrant texture across the canvas. Sara's paintings are as much delineated form as they are landscapes.
